Mark McKown, a junior in the Agricultural Education Program at the University of Illinois, has been selected as one of only seven students to participate in the National AgGateway Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on November 6-8th. The Gateway to Ag Careers (GTAC) program provides students majoring in agricultural and IT-related subjects an opportunity to meet agri-business industry professionals and become more aware of some of the many opportunities in agriculture eBusiness.
Each student attending the conference will be assigned a mentor from an agribusiness to shadow throughout the conference. Students will also participate in a roundtable discussion session where some of the AgGateway members will discuss their businesses and the opportunities available for students upon graduation. Each GTAC student will also have the opportunity to participate in other conference sessionsduring the three-day experience, and network with industry professionals.
The GTAC sponsors for the 2012 AgGateway Conference include: AgCIO, AGIIS/AgGateway, CSC and Winfield.
AgGateway’s mission is to promote, enable, and expand eBusiness in Agriculture. To learn more about AgGateway, visit: www.aggateway.org.
