Professional Development in Ag Ed

Course Description

Analysis of teaching and learning processes, program improvement strategies, professional development, FFA chapter development, awareness of school law, program management, and discussion of trends and issues in agricultural education.

Upon completion of Ag Ed 451, students will be able to:

  • Reflect upon and make decisions in regard to the ill-structured problems associated with the practice of teaching agriculture in high schools.
  • Develop a professional teaching portfolio.
  • Develop critical recruitment and marketing techniques as they relate to the secondary agriculture program.
  • Understand and complete requisite state and local forms as the agricultural education program manager.
  • Reflect upon and respond to current professional development needs and trends of agricultural educators.
  • Understand and utilize state and national tools for advising the local FFA chapter.

Credit Hours: 1 hour
