Observation and Program Analysis

Course Description

Agricultural Education 250 is designed to provide agricultural education students with field experiences and instruction in an educational setting prior to enrollment in student teaching. Forty hours of observation and participatory experiences will be scheduled for each student in a cooperating school between the fall and spring semesters (December-January), followed by on-campus instruction during the spring semester. Ag Ed 250 will be taken for two credits. The program is especially recommended for junior students and is a required course in Agricultural Education, Teacher Education Curriculum.

Upon completion of Ag Ed 250, students will be able to:

  • Communicate how agricultural education programs are organized and conducted.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and challenges of various high school agricultural education programs.
  • Articulate the uniqueness of traditional and non-traditional high school agricultural education programs.
  • Understand the daily experiences of agricultural education instructor through classroom observations and interviews.
  • Understand and instruct students on the use of electronic record books for the Supervised Agricultural Experience Program.
  • Assist in the preparation/training for local career development events as part of the FFA component of agricultural education.
  • Understand the various state and national leadership award programs available to FFA chapters and members.
