Interned at WYXY Classic 99.1 Radio, North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) Media Intern
Taylor grew up on a grain production farm in Western Illinois and always knew that she wanted her future to include agriculture. In high school she was very involved in FFA and earned her American FFA Degree. While in FFA she discovered that she had a passion for public speaking, which led to her decision to enter into agriculture communications and then leadership education. She is active in the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, Agriculture Education Club, and Collegiate Farm Bureau.
Last summer Taylor was an intern for Gale Cunningham at WYXY Classic 99.1 in Champaign. She says, “That experience helped me become more confident interviewing people and with being an advocate for agriculture in the public.” Taylor was also a press room intern for NAILE in Louisville, KY, and enjoyed writing press releases.
Taylor’s most meaningful experience in the College of ACES was studying agriculture abroad in Italy and the Dominican Republic. She feels the experiences made her more aware of the global impact of agriculture. Taylor’s advice to others is, “Be involved in the organizations on campus and choose ACES; it is here that you will enjoy the close student-teacher relationships that have made me feel like a part of the family.”
