Madalyn Hammel is studying Agricultural Education at the University of Illinois because she wants to educate youth about the importance of understanding what agriculture is and how it impacts our lives. "I have had wonderful educators who have positively impacted my life, and I want to be that positive influence for the next generation of youth," she said.
Madalyn began her collegiate studies at Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Illinois, where she earned an associate's degree in science. Now, as a student in the Agricultural Education Program at the University of Illinois, Madalyn appreciates her knowledgeable educators. "I know I will have the knowledge I need to help educate by the end of my time at the University of Illinois," she said. "I am confident I am receiving the best education at the University of Illinois."
In her free time, Madalyn is a hobbyist beekeeper and enjoys outdoor activities such as canoeing and hiking. She also enjoys helping with local community events and plays in a band with her friends. Madalyn's advice to students is: "Never forget your glasses at home and don't be afraid to work hard."
