Lauren Hadden grew up on a grain and livestock farm in Jacksonville, Illinois. "Agriculture has always been in my blood," she said. She was involved in both 4-H and FFA and served as president of her FFA Chapter her senior year of high school. "I love everything involved in agriculture," she said. Lauren also showed cattle at the county, state, and national levels. "Showing teaches young 4-Hers responsibility and time management," she said. "And I loved every minute of it!"
Lauren has always enjoyed talking about, teaching, and participating in agriculture, which is why she chose her Agricultural Leadership Education major. “I just want to be able to make a difference in our ag world," she said. Part of what makes Lauren's studies at the U of I so exciting is her camaraderie with other agriculturally-focused students. "I love that there are so many others who follow the same passion that I do," she said. "The professors and advisors are awesome, and we have great resources in Agricultural Education at the U of I." Lauren's advice for students is: "Do what you love and don't let anyone take that from you. The saying that if you're doing what you love you'll never work a day in your life is so true. Do what you love."
