Gina Yuan, originally from Chengdu, China, recently graduated from the University of Illinois Agricultural Education program. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in Social Organizational Psychology at Columbia University.
“Being a graduate student is my new job. I do enjoy having conversations with professors and my classmates. Meeting new students with diverse backgrounds is a whole new experience for me,” Gina says.
In her opinion, learning is change and to do so she will take the time necessary to achieve and get where she wants to go. She says the University of Illinois prepared her for her master’s education at Columbia by taking a lot of agriculture, education, and leadership courses.
“You can explore so many courses on this huge campus. Besides your own major, you could take floral design class, golf class and aviation class. I would say, as long as you want to learn, there is a class for you at U of I,” Gina says.
While on campus, Gina also worked with the Illini Union, planning and organizing entertainment.
