Kelley Koester grew up showing and raising purebred Charolais Cattle and is passionate about the animal agriculture industry. She co-owns a cattle company with her brother, and she works as a freelance website designer for local and small businesses. Kelley participated in 4-H for 11 years and received the 4-H Key Award. She also participated in FFA and received her American Degree. Kelley's involvement in agriculture and agricultural leadership organizations led her to choose a major in Agricultural Science Education at the University of Illinois. "I want to change the face of agriculture through teaching and students," she said.
Kelley loves studying agricultural education at the U of I because of its homey atmosphere. “The University of Illinois is so big, but the Ag Ed family is small and close-knit,” she said. “It feels like home here at the U of I, and coming from a hometown of 700, it was hard to imagine that a school of this size could feel like home, but it truly does!” Kelley’s advice for students is: “Do not be afraid to be a life-long learner. There is always something you can learn; all you have to do is listen.”
