Josh grew up on a grain production farm in Central Illinois where he assisted in day-to-day farm operations and raised show pigs in the summer. In high school Josh was involved in FFA and his local 4-H club. While in FFA he received his State FFA Degree, and participated in many Career Development Events with Livestock Judging being his favorite. All of these things played a role in Josh’s decision to continue his education in the field of Agriculture.
Last summer Josh was a research assistant at the University of Illinois working with corn and soybeans in the Crop Physiology Department. He says, “Working with experienced staff and students here at the University was great. It allowed me to learn more than just growing corn and soybeans.”
Josh’s most meaningful experience in the College of ACES was being on the University’s Meat Evaluation Team where he got to travel all over the country to participate in contests and broaden his knowledge of the agriculture industry.
