Hannah Story chose to major in Agricultural Education because of her life-long passion for agriculture. “Agriculture is my passion and the reason behind my choice to make it my career. My degree challenges me both professionally and personally and I love everything Agriculture Leadership encompasses. I cannot think of a more fulfilling atmosphere to further my passion than here at U of I,” she said.
Hannah’s family raises Black Angus beef cattle and produces corn and soybean crops. She finds joy in working with younger kids and has experience volunteering with children’s programs, both related to and not related to agriculture. “Growing up on a production farm has instilled me with a lifelong appreciation for the American farmer”. Hannah credits her farming background for her work ethic and her validity towards choosing a degree in Agriculture Education. "I am ecstatic to be in such a supportive program that nurtures a stimulating environment for me to grow, develop, and learn to adapt to any type of leadership situation," she said. "From my first day at the University of Illinois, I knew this was going to be a life changing experience."
Hannah's advice to students is: "No one ever really knows what they’re doing, so don’t worry if you don’t know what you want to do with your life. The reason we all chose the University of Illinois is not because we know what we want to do, but because we know we will be able to find out through this experience.”
