Emily Ade

Class of 2018
From West Lafayette, Indiana

Emily grew up on a third-generation farm where she was actively involved in 4-H and FFA. She showed cattle and pigs in 4-H while also holding numerous leadership roles. Her passion for agriculture came from her time showing; having an agricultural family kept her passion ablaze. Her time in 4-H has also helped her decide her future career in Extension Education with a focus in Youth Development. She states, “I just want kids in 4-H to have the same amazing experience as I did growing up and to keep advocating for this industry.”

Before coming to the University of Illinois, Emily was a student at Lake Land College where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Science. She moved onto the University of Illinois because of the quality of education that this University offered. She is an Agricultural Leadership major at the University of Illinois and also serves as a Student Ambassador for Agricultural Education. Emily’s advice for future students is “be yourself and never let others decide or tell you what you want.”
