Interned at National Junior Hereford Association, 2012-2015
Elise Hackett chose to pursue a master's degree in Agricultural Education because she has a passion for helping youth in agriculture. "If I can help at least one kid realize that they love to do something agriculture-related, I will feel successful," she said.
Elise earned her bachelors of science in Animal Science from the University of Illinois. Her family's diversified farm led Elise to discover her interest in the beef industry, specifically Hereford Cattle. "I served on the National Junior Hereford Association Board of Directors and realized that helping kids and youth in agriculture is what I love to do," she said.
Elise appreciates the Agricultural Education Department's welcoming and inclusive environment. "I just started my adventure in Ag Ed but I already feel like I am a part of the family," she said. Elise's advice for students is: "Don't hesitate to ask questions and take advantage of opportunities. There will be several people who graduate with the same degree that you do, so be sure to set yourself apart from other people through your unique interests and adventures that come your way."
