As a Head Start Teacher at Children’s Home Center, Brittany Brown is responsible for teaching infants and toddlers ages 0-3 years old. She uses teaching and leadership strategies that she learned in her agricultural education classes at the University of Illinois. “I learned so much in my time at U of I. I learned several strategies that I utilize in my classroom today.” Brittany’s passion for teaching is the reason she feels she does her job well. She wants to help children develop knowledge and respect for others.
Reflecting on her experience at University of Illinois, Brittany says, "besides all of the education classes and the leadership classes, being in the Agricultural Education Program allowed me to see passionate educators that actually care if their students are successful. Even to this day, the staff in the program are only an email away.” She says it is because of her experiences at the University of Illinois that she has excelled as a Head Start Teacher. She is driven by the promise of seeing students blossom and grow during the time that she has with them.
