Interned at Monsanto/Dekalb in Farmer City and AIRS Crop Scouting and Consulting
Austin chose to pursue a degree in Agricultural Education at the University of Illinois because he enjoys working with people and wants to share his love of agriculture with everyone around him. He is originally from a 4,000 acre family farm in central Illinois, where he enjoys working with his livestock and helping family during harvest and spring planting seasons. The family farm consists of corn and soybean row crop production, in addition to poultry (chicken and turkey) and swine production. Outside of helping on the farm, Austin enjoys sports, mechnics, and music. He is also a member of the University of Illinois Xtension Chords, an a cappella singing group.
He says his favorite part of being at the University of Illinois is the opportunity to work with fellow Ag Ed majors while being involved in the Ag Ed Club and Collegiate FFA. Austin also enjoys attending athletic events throughout the year.
Austin advises other students to not put things off until the last minute. "Get your work done, get involved, and have fun!"
