Andrew Nagy

Class of 2015
From St. Joseph, Illinois
Interned at Bayer Crop Sciences, Research Assistant
Tree/Plant Health Care Technician at Swingle: Lawn, Tree, and Landscape Care

Andrew found Agricultural Leadership Education after a summer working for Bayer Crop Sciences. He said his experience with Bayer was so enjoyable he wanted to make a career out of something similar. Looking back on his experiences at the University of Illinois, he says his ag leadership education courses prepared him for a career out of college while working directly with a variety of agricultural businesses. "It was exactly what I was looking for."

While at the University of Illinois, Andrew was an active member of FarmHouse Fraternity, participated in intramural sports, philanthropies, fundraisers, community service, and social activities with other groups on campus. Andrew believed his involvement with FarmHouse also offered him an amazing networking system that allowed him to have an advantage over other graduates when he entered the workforce.

Andrew said, "For me, the U of I is set apart from other academic institutions by their campus involvement, faculty, and graduate research programs." His advice to future students is straightforward: find a college that has a degree program that suits you, find a campus you like, and make sure you get involved with things around campus.
