Interned at Coles County Extension - 4-H and Youth Development Programs
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois, Aimee chose to pursue a graduate degree in Agricultural Education. "I chose Ag Education because agriculture is very important to me and I enjoy working within the industry. I also enjoy working with others involved in the agriculture industry.” Aimee is particularly interested in career opportunities in Extension because of the opportunity to work with youth and adults in community outreach programs. She also enjoys working with 4-H youth because of the enjoyment she sees from them while they are participating in the programs.
Her favorite part of studying agricultural education at the University of Illinois was the opportunity to serve as a teaching assistant and work with the staff and students in the Ag Ed Program. She says one of the advantages to a smaller program is the opportunity to really get to know the professors and work with them one on one.
Aside from teaching responsibilities and coursework, Aimee enjoys spending her free time playing sports, reading, farming, spending time with friends, enjoying the outdoors, and playing with her dogs. Her advice for other students is to "get involved in student organizations on campus and and enjoy your time at the university; time moves by quickly!"
