Agricultural Education Teaching
The Agricultural Sciences Education Concentration prepares students to teach agriculture/horticulture in Illinois high schools. State of Illinois certification requirements include a minimum of 2,000 hours of employment experience in agriculture. Dual certification in general science, biology, physical sciences, or other areas may be pursued. Students must complete either the Science and Management or Horticulture specialization. Teacher Certification students must maintain a 2.5 (4.0=A) GPA or above to remain in good standing. Click here to view the Teacher Certification program of study.

- High School Teacher in a Variety of Subjects
- High school teachers provide educational instruction at the level of grades 9-12. Typically, a particular area of specialty and certification provide basis for instruction.
- Agriculture Instructor/FFA Advisor
- Teaches agriculture related classes to give junior high or high school students knowledge and understanding of the broad fields in agriculture.
- College Teacher
- Organizes curriculum and establishes and delivers programs to college students on various topics. Also responsible for advising and placing graduates.
- Education Specialist
- Specializes in a particular educational area, such as curriculum or instruction; conducts research and disseminates information to educators to improve educational settings.
- Environmental Educator
- Teaches students and/or companies about problems and factors affecting the environment and steps that can be taken to protect and conserve the environment.
